Being a curly girl definitely has its perks! It can look both effortless and wild with some frizz while still looking acceptable and dare I say sexy! It can be a task to upkeep but it’s also fun strolling about with your unique bouncy curls and finding new ways of styling them.
Usually, the norm curly hairstyle is down and parted to the side, middle, or with no part. Because this is the season of embracing your natural curls, why not kick it up a notch and use some cute hair accessories? Adding a hair accessory to your curly hair can spice up any hairdo and bring some variety allowing you to express yourself through your hairstyle.
Not every hair accessory works for curls because we don’t want to use anything that will snag or tug on our strands, however, below are the best curly hair accessories that you need to try for some stylish looks!
Curly Hair Accessories
1. Silk/Satin Scarf
A silk scarf is such a chic accessory for curly-haired girls! It works so well for those with this hair type because of the material, there is no tugging or pulling on the hair, so your curls can stay intact with minimal to no frizz occurring. Depending on your budget, you can go with silk if you love a luxurious feel or satin if you are on a budget. You will still get a similar feeling to the silk option but the same result!
You can tie it around your hair to give an illusion of a headband, or wrap it around a curly bun or ponytail for some extra flare!

2. Jumbo Claw Clips
When we make our hair curly, our strands look like they expanded, making our hair look thicker and more voluminous in contrast to straight hair. It even feels thicker than straight hair. If we want to get it up and out of our face for the day, we can’t just simply grab any claw clip we find. There isn’t enough space in the clip to hold our hair. Instead, we need to grab something bigger like a jumbo claw clip!
Jumbo claw clips will quickly and easily get our hair out of our faces but still give a cute look. Just gently twist your curls up and clip it all in for an effortless girl-next-door look.
3. Banana Hair Clips
If you are someone with a tighter curl pattern, you know that your hair can look a lot shorter than it actually is. All lengths are beautiful, however, it’s harder to try different hairstyles with shorter lengths. This is where banana clips can help. You can get an elongated ponytail style using this hair accessory. Because the clip is long and flat, it gives the illusion of longer hair.
All you have to do is open the clip, put your lengths through it, and fasten the snap at the top to keep your strands in place.
4. Silk Scrunchies
The idea of silk is keeping in mind the same thoughts that were discussed with the silk scarf. We don’t want to disrupt our pattern so much with accessories that it causes frizz or messy hair. Having our curls last longer than a day is the goal so wearing a gentle accessory is key! Sometimes, a ponytail is the hairstyle we want for the day. It’s simple yet sophisticated.
Using a silk scrunchie to tie your hair into a ponytail will hold it all day with no snagging and it adds an 80s fun look. You can even use the scrunchie to keep your curls from coming in contact with sweat during challenging workouts!
5. Bobby Pins
The classic bobby pin! Of course, you can’t see a bobby pin in your hair but that’s the point! If you ever wanted to do a curly updo but wanted it to look streamlined and classic without any sign of hair accessory showing, you need bobby pins! If you want to style a messy bun, this tool is your friend. You can easily pin your curls in place in the perfect spot for them to look effortless but also stylish.
6. Satin Lined Hats
We love a good hat moment but it can be just a tad more complicated for curly-haired women to wear hats. Hats can very easily cause unnecessary ruining of the curls or even worse, the dreaded hat hair. The bouncy curls we spent hours styling are now flattened and lifeless. However, having hats or beanies that are lined with satin will save us from bad hair days and keep our hair looking shiny and healthy.
You can get a satin-lined sun hat for the warmer months and a satin-lined beanie for the cooler months and you’re set for the year!

Final Thoughts
That’s a wrap! Of course, you can use almost any hair accessory you want with curly hair but I’ve found that these work best on curls. It’s encouraged to try any accessory you think will look great on you. Everyone’s curl pattern and density are different, so what might work for one person may not necessarily work for the best. However, it’s always about trial and error to find your favorite hair accessories. Hopefully, this post helped you in some way to navigating your beautiful curly hair journey.
