Looking for mascara hacks for fuller looking lashes? Here are the best tips that are truly game-changing!
Unless you were born with beautiful naturally long and full lashes, it can sometimes be a pain to get them as full as possible for that special night out or even for every day if you desire. Nowadays one or two simple swipes just doesn’t cut it. The technique you use to apply mascara is just as important as the products you use. I have rounded up a few tips and tricks step by step that I use that will help you bring your lash game to the next level!
Mascara Hacks
1. Use an eyelash curler first
Using an eyelash curler is an essential first step is any eyelash routine. It really helps to initially curl the lashes up. Start at the base of the lashes and hold the eyelash curler there for about 7-10 seconds and then move the eyelash curler to the middle of your lashes and tilt the eyelash curler up for another 7-10 seconds for maximum curl.
2. Go in with a setting powder
A trick you should do when applying any mascara is to first take a disposable brow or mascara spoolie and dip it into a setting powder or any powder you have handy that is safe to put around the eyes. Be careful to not apply too much as you don’t want to get it in your eyes! Then you apply the powder to your lashes just like you would apply any mascara. Doing this really helps to separate your lashes and prevents extra clumps from happening when you apply your mascara.
3. Apply a lash primer
Applying lash primer after the setting powder helps separate your lashes even further and gives your lashes that extra boost of thicker and fuller looking lashes. Apply the primer lightly with one coat as using too much primer before your mascara can create unwanted clumps. You should also do one eye at a time, meaning that you do this step on one eye and then go to step 4 and then come back to this step and do the other eye. You should apply primer on one eyelash at a time because if you let the primer dry, the effect of the primer won’t perform at it’s true potential.
4. Apply your lengthening mascara and blink!
To achieve maximum length, chose your favorite lengthening mascara and before you apply, wipe off the excess into the mascara tube. Majority of the time when you take out a mascara wand from its tube, too much product comes out and when you apply it, it becomes a big clumpy mess, so it’s best to scrape off the excess before you apply. Plus, you end up saving more product! Also when you apply, start at the base of the lashes and wiggle to brush from side to side as you comes to the tip as you’re getting to the end of your lashes, blink your eye slowly. I have been doing the blinking technique for years and it always makes your lashes look more dramatic and longer.
5. Apply your volumizing mascara and blink!
Since both length and volume give you maximum fuller looking lashes, you next go in with your favorite volumizing mascara. The volumizing mascara will take your lengthened lashes to the next level by creating thicker looking lashes. Be sure to wipe off the excess and apply one coat as well and follow the same steps for this mascara just like step 4.
6. Apply mascara to your bottom lashes
Now take a mascara with a thin wand to apply mascara to your bottom lashes. Thin wands are best because since your bottom lashes are a lot shorter and thinner than your top lashes, it helps prevents any mascara transfer to your under eye. Apply the mascara starting at the base and wiggling out the mascara. Applying mascara to your bottom lashes finishes the look giving you a cohesive look around the eye.
….and that’s it! Your results should be thicker and fuller lashes with these mascara hacks as shown below (Results may vary due to natural lash density and length):
